He’s authentic, a real person, not a phony politician
To shake up the establishment’s his dedicated mission.
He calls them as he sees them, he is not the kind who panders,
Donald Trump? But he’s a clown. I’m describing Bernie Sanders.

It’s early in the game, but huge, enthusiastic crowds are turning out not only for Donald Trump but also for Bernie Sanders. Satirists are turning out in much larger numbers for Trump, as I’ve noted in previous blogs. Still, Bernie has not gone unnoticed by the jesters.

Some like him. The New Yorker’s Borowitz, for example, offers a headline: “Sanders Shamelessly Pandering to Voters Who Want to Know the Truth.” And a cartoonist calls the Pope “the Bernie Sanders of the Third World.”

But his age is an inevitable target. Seth Meyers reported that Clinton has joined Instagram, whereas Sanders has joined telegram. And a Marlette cartoon has a Republican mockingly declaring; “And they call us the party of Old White Men.”

His politics inevitably makes him a target of conservatives. A Wisconisn Republican billboard compares Clinton as “left” to Sanders as “lefter.” A Ramirez cartoon proposes him as “President – of Greece.”

Then there’s the ultimate science fiction fantasy in the online magazine, The Daily Caller – Trump bemoaning his narrowly losing the presidential election to Sanders.
